Join the Texas Wildlife Census Team

Please enter the following information to participate in the Texas Wildlife Census. The Texas Wildlife Census is a participatory science project that aims to transform wildlife monitoring in Texas by implementing a large-scale, standardized camera trap network. The data that participants collect will generate valuable insights that benefit the people and wildlife of Texas.

Enter the participation code found in the "How to Join the Texas Wildlife Census Team" document that was included in the email invitation to join the Texas Wildlife Census team. This is used to prevent unauthorized submissions and is not an account password.

A valid email address is required to coordinate participation in the project. Names and email addresses are stored in a secure database. Contact information will not be shared with outside entities unless required by law. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions below for more information about privacy policies and how data will be used and protected.

Select your Texas Master Naturalist chapter.

Select the number of cameras you are willing to deploy. Please consider that for each camera, you will need to travel to a distinct grid cell, set up the camera, retrieve the camera after one month, and upload images from the SD card. You can update your selection later using the Update Your Survey Grid Cell Selection page in the Data Portal.

Please select all the grid cells where you are willing and able to set up a trail camera. If you are unsure at this time, you can skip this section. You can update your selection later using the Update Your Survey Grid Cell Selection page in the Data Portal.

Where can you survey?

Areas that you are able to survey may include your own property, a friend's property where you have permission to set up a trail camera, or public property where you have permission. Keep in mind that even urban areas can provide valuable wildlife insights.

Use Explore Map to pan across the map. Use Select Grid Cells to click individual cells or drag a box over multiple cells.
