Privacy Policy

Volunteers agree to be contacted by Texas Wildlife Census staff to coordinate participation.

The Texas Wildlife Census will not publish location data more precise than the survey grid cell, town, county, or similar scale, without obtaining permission from the volunteer and/or landowner.

The Texas Wildlife Census will not publish photographs of identifiable people, including volunteers, without permission from the depicted individuals.

Names and email addresses will be accessible only to designated Texas Wildlife Census staff. When necessary to coordinate an equipment transfer, Texas Wildlife Census staff may share names and/or email addresses with the Texas Master Naturalist participant(s) directly involved in that transfer. Recipients may use the email address only for equipment transfer coordination and may not disclose it further. Contact information will not otherwise be disclosed except as required by law.

Volunteers can discontinue their participation at any time. If a volunteer discontinues participation, we will retain their name and email address in our records only for purposes of arranging the return of loaned equipment, and to resolve any related loss, damage, or dispute. Once all loaned equipment has been returned and any related matter has been resolved, we will delete the volunteer's name and email address from our active records. Deletion of names and email addresses will not require deletion of project data that has already been anonymized, including data collected during trail camera deployments and photographs collected through the volunteer's participation.

All data collected through the data portal are stored on a secure database, and systems and protocols are in place to protect the personal information of volunteers.
